Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Review

Hello Everyone,

Finally summers are here in full throttle and in these hot humid months my skin needs that extra dose of hydration to quench my dry skin’s thirst. My skin becomes extremely dry in summers and if I apply my usual face creams or face oils my skin starts to look very dark and dull. I always opt for very light weight gels or face emulsions during summers which do not feel heavy on the skin and make my skin all dewy and glowing. One such product that my skin has been loving recently is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I have been using it for the last one month and this has instantly become one of my favourite and also my essential during these hot months.

My Experience with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel:

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel comes in a blue cardboard packaging with all the details about the product mentioned on the packaging itself. The gel comes in a very heavy icy blue jar with a screw lid. The packaging is a bit bulky so it is not very travel friendly but it feels very luxurious. The gel has a very light aqua blue tint to it. It has a consistency which is between water and that of a gel so they have named it aptly. I bought the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel because it is considered as a bang on dupe for the Clinique Moisture Surge, I had been contemplating about the Moisture Surge for quite some time now and when I saw everyone comparing this to the Moisture Surge I knew I had to grab this.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel ReviewThe gel has a very mild summery smell to it which is very soothing. I like my skin care products to be fragrance free because of my extra sensitive nose but fragrances like these are not at all an issue. The smell is very light and it fades off after a few minutes of application. The gel is lightweight in texture and it gets absorbed into the skin within seconds of application leaving the skin hydrated and feeling extra soft and plump. It has Hyaluronic acid in it so it definitely gives the skin an extra dose of hydration.Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Review

I am a dry skin type so I like my face creams to be extra moisturizing so that my skin doesn’t start feeling dry or flaky during the day. I have been using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel for the past one month and I must say this provides enough hydration and  moisturization to my dry skin all through out the day. The gel texture makes it sit on the skin very comfortably during the hot summer months. It also acts as a beautiful make up primer. I apply it every time I apply my foundation and my make up looks so seamless and dewy.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel hydrates the skin, makes it all soft and plump, it does not feel heavy on the skin, it does not clog pores so it great for people with oily and sensitive skin. It also contains prebiotics so it helps amplify skin to produce its own hyaluronic acid. It also has olive extract which helps to repair and reinforce the skin’s barrier.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel ReviewI like to use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel in my AM routine for that dewy skin. I apply a pea size amount on my cleansed and toned face and after the water gel I like to seal everything in with the Regaliz Truderma Sunscreen Gel . This is a 50 gram jar so if you apply it once in a day it will last you around two months but if you apply it twice it will hardly last you around a month. One thing that I wanted to point out is that this product is only going to provide you with hydration and moisturisation. It is like a gel moisturizer and it’s aim is to provide your skin with hydration. Apart from that it won’t do your skin any good. It does not even out the complexion, it does not help with dark spots or with pigmentation removal, neither does it claim to do so. So if you want a decent light weight  gel based moisturizer then go for it  but if you want clear, bright and glowing skin and want to fade off some imperfection on your skin, then this is definitely not the product for you.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel ReviewPros of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel:
  • Love the aqua blue packaging of the gel, gives you that summery vibes.
  • The gel is light weight in texture.
  • It gets absorbed into the skin instantly.
  • Has a very mild soothing smell.
  • Makes the skin look dewy and glowing.
  • Works as a great makeup base.
  • Works for all skin type.
Cons of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel:
  • Does not work on any other skin issue.
Rating of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel:

I would give it a 4/5.

Will I repurchase the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel?

I don’t think so because we as bloggers need to try out different stuff to review, so maybe I do not repurchase it as I have many new launches that I am dying to try out right now.
